Interview with Dhia

Where and what did you study?

I earned my bachelor’s degree in computer science from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. My studies gave me a strong technical foundation, which I am now applying in a targeted manner at PASS and continuing to build upon.

What interested you most about your degree program?

I’ll be honest – I wasn’t fascinated by the IT field as a child. But I’ve always had a passion for mathematics. Until I graduated from high school, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to study. One thing was clear to me, though: I didn’t want to study pure mathematics. I wanted to apply my analytical thinking to real-world problems and make the results of my work visible. That’s exactly what I found in computer science – the perfect combination of logical thinking, creativity, and practical application. I was particularly fascinated by topics like artificial intelligence, databases, and modern software architectures.

How did you first hear about PASS, and what roles have you held at PASS since then?

I first heard about PASS at the end of my fifth semester, when I was looking for a company for my internship and bachelor’s thesis. It was important to me not just to complete a required internship, but to find an environment where I could envision a long-term future for myself. While searching for companies in the Darmstadt and Frankfurt areas, I happened to come across PASS in Aschaffenburg. After doing some research on the company’s reputation, clients, projects, and international locations – especially the office in Tunisia, where I’m originally from – it became clear to me that PASS was the perfect fit. I started here with my internship, then worked as a student employee, and finally wrote my bachelor’s thesis. As I neared the end of my thesis, I faced a decision: pursue a master’s degree or start my career. I deliberately chose PASS because I see the opportunity here to take on responsibility and grow in the long term. Shortly after finishing my bachelor’s thesis, I started as a Junior Innovation Consultant in R&D – and I’ve been pursuing this path with full motivation ever since.

What lessons from your time as a student at PASS do you still apply today?

From my time as a student at PASS, I’ve gained practical experience, independence, and teamwork skills above all else. During my internship and work-study position, I learned to quickly master new tools and technologies, drive projects forward independently, and collaborate closely with my team at the same time. The experience of structuring complex tasks and visualizing results was also particularly valuable – it showed me how important planning, communication, and initiative are. These skills help me today to implement projects efficiently and successfully and to take on responsibility.

Is there a project you're particularly proud of?

My next project is always the one I’m most proud of. Looking back, however, I can say that my bachelor’s thesis project, “Contract Management Software,” makes me particularly proud. It wasn’t a project I did just for a grade – it was a real solution to a real problem. After implementing the proof of concept, the project was presented at the PASS Annual Conference: Andreas Rinner, our Chief Digital Officer, introduced the software, mentioned me by name, and highlighted my work several times. This led to many colleagues recognizing both me and the project. Since then, I have continuously developed the project further and received a lot of positive feedback, which motivates me and shows me that it’s worth always giving my best.

Why would you recommend PASS as an employer – especially for young talent?

I would especially recommend PASS to young talent because it offers an ideal environment for personal and professional growth. During my time here, I’ve found that you can take on responsibility early on, gain access to exciting projects and cutting-edge technologies, and be supported by a dedicated, supportive team. At the same time, PASS has an open corporate culture where ideas are heard and encouraged. For young talent, this means that you not only learn but can also make a real impact. It is precisely this combination of support, responsibility, and visible influence that makes PASS an attractive employer for emerging talent.

What advice would you give to students or recent graduates who want to start their careers at PASS?

Be curious, proactive, and open to new challenges. Take the opportunity to take on responsibility early on, learn about new technologies, and seek feedback. Those who actively contribute, build networks, and seize opportunities can grow quickly here and make a tangible impact.
